Excluding PII from Webeyez Session Recordings

What is PII?

Personally Identifiable Information (PII) is any information that can identify a specific person, either on its own or when combined with other data. Examples include:

  • Full names
  • Email addresses and phone numbers
  • Home or delivery addresses
  • Account or customer numbers
  • Payment information
  • Other personal details associated with an individual

By default, Webeyez does not collect keyboard input from fields such as login, registration, or credit-card forms.

However, PII may still appear as part of a page’s HTML. For example, a saved address, customer name, or other personal information might be displayed on an account or confirmation page. To prevent this content from appearing in session recordings, create a PII rule in Webeyez.

How to exclude PII

  1. Log in to Webeyez.
  2. Open the Events Dashboard.
  3. Click Add New Event.
  4. Your website will open with the Webeyez widget.
  5. Select PII from the widget menu.
  6. Click Add New PII Rule.
  7. Use the selector to identify the content you want to exclude.
  8. Choose the relevant CSS class or HTML element.
  9. Confirm that the rule covers all content containing PII.
  10. Click Publish to activate the PII rule.

Once published, the selected content will be excluded from future session recordings.

Review PII rules whenever your website’s structure or CSS changes. If an element’s selector changes, the rule may need to be updated.
