Frustration Signals
Frustration Signals
Frustration signals are behavioral indicators that help identify moments when users encounter obstacles or annoyances while interacting with your eCommerce site. At Webeyez, we track three key frustration signals to surface potential UX issues that may be impacting conversions or customer satisfaction:
Dead Clicks
These occur when a user clicks on an element that doesn’t respond. Specifically, a dead click happens when a user interacts with a non-focusable element and no visible change (such as a page transition or UI update) is detected within 1,000 milliseconds. It’s a sign of user confusion or broken expectations.
Rage Clicks
Rage clicks are clusters of rapid clicks—at least three—on the same element within a short period. After the third click, every subsequent click that occurs within 1 second is considered part of the same rage click. This typically indicates that the user is frustrated because the site isn’t behaving as expected.
Error Clicks
An error click is recorded when a user clicks an element and, within 5 seconds, a JavaScript error or a failed network call is detected. These are critical signals that something technical is failing on the backend, directly impacting the user’s experience.
