Updating Shopify Bot Detection for Webeyez Uptime Alerts
If your Shopify store is protected by Shopify’s Web Bot Auth, Webeyez Uptime Alerts must be authorized to access your storefront. This ensures our monitoring tests are recognized as legitimate crawlers and aren’t blocked by Shopify.
Step 1: Create a Web Bot Auth Signature
Follow Shopify’s official guide to create a new crawler signature:
Shopify Documentation:
https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/promoting-marketing/seo/crawling-your-store
In Shopify Admin:
- Go to Online Store → Preferences.
- Under Crawler access, click Create signature.
- Enter a descriptive name (for example: Webeyez Uptime Alerts).
- Select the appropriate store domain.
- Choose an expiration period.
- Click Create.
Shopify will generate the required authentication values for your crawler.
Step 2: Send the Signature to Webeyez
After creating the signature, copy the generated authentication values and email them to:
support@webeyez.com
Our team will configure your Webeyez Uptime Alerts to use the new signature so monitoring can continue without interruption.
Important Notes
- Shopify signatures expire automatically and cannot be renewed. When a signature expires, you’ll need to create a new one and send the updated values to Webeyez.
- If you ever lose the signature values, you can copy them again from Online Store → Preferences → Crawler access in your
